Title

Resolution approving a plat of right-of-way required for the development of a recreational corridor in the City of Milwaukee’s Riverwest neighborhood.

Analysis

This resolution approves the plat of right-of-way for Project I.D. 2984-34-00/20/70; Beer Line Bike/Recreational Corridor.  It also authorizes the City of Milwaukee to acquire lands or interests in lands as shown on the plat of right-of-way for the project.  The total estimated cost is $456,000 of which the City’s share is $91,200.

Body

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has approved a Transportation Enhancement/STP-D project that provides funds to acquire real estate for transportation and recreational uses in the City of Milwaukee’s Riverwest neighborhood; and

 

Whereas, The local alderman, Michael D’Amato, as well as a number of community groups, schools, and abutting residents are supportive of the project; and

 

Whereas, It is necessary that the Common Council approve the plat of right-of-way required for the aforementioned project and authorize the City to acquire land or interests in lands, as shown on the right-of-way plat; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the right-of-way plat for Project I.D. 2984-34-00/20/70 be approved and that the City Engineer and the Commissioners of Public Works and City Development are authorized and directed to affix their signatures to the plat; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City is hereby authorized to acquire lands or interests in lands as shown on the approved plat of right-of-way for the Beer Line Bike/Recreational Corridor; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Engineer is authorized to sign the relocation order and award of damages and other documents required by the right-of-way acquisition process; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That minor revisions, made in consultation with the Commissioner of City Development, in the above plat to meet altered and unforeseen conditions encountered during acquisition of right-of-way are hereby authorized and approved; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is hereby authorized and directed to create with the Capital Improvement Fund, Grant and Aid Projects, the necessary Project/Grant Chartfield Values for right-of-way acquisition for the project (Expenditure) and transfer to any of those accounts the amount required under the grant agreement and City Accounting policy but not to exceed a 10 percent increase of the total amount reserved or $5,000, whichever is greater, as follows:
