Title
Substitute resolution relating to the establishment of scheduled maintenance of City-owned lots.
Analysis
This resolution directs city departments to establish and enforce regular scheduled maintenance of City-owned lots as indicated in vendor contracts.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee is responsible for the maintenance of over 1,000 lots divided into 7 sections in the city and the City has contracts with individual vendors to provide regular scheduled maintenance for these lots; and
Whereas, Lots not maintained in a timely manner can result in decreased property value for neighborhoods and community due to tall grass and the accumulation of litter; and
Whereas, To provide incentive for the compliance with contract provisions for maintenance of these lots, the City should establish a provision in the contracts, whereby the vendor is liable for not providing regular, scheduled maintenance on City-owned lots; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Administration, Department of Neighborhood Services and Department of City Development are directed to include a provision within all agreements - new and renewed - with vendors liable for not providing regular, scheduled maintenance of City-owned lots.
