Title
Resolution authorizing negotiation of an agreement with Milwaukee County relating to sharing of data center space in the Information and Technology Management Division (ITMD).
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the appropriate City officials to negotiate the sharing of its ITMD data center space with Milwaukee County for the mutual benefit of both organizations. Upon conclusion of the negotiation, the agreement shall be submitted to the Common council for approval.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County wish to provide services more efficiently; and
Whereas, The City and Milwaukee County provide many of the same information technology functions within their respective organizations; and
Whereas, Milwaukee County requires new office space for its Information Management Services Division; and
Whereas, Equipment downsizing over the past decade has situated the City with extra space in its secure data center facility rooms in ITMD; and
Whereas, The City and Milwaukee County could share this space and equipment without adversely impacting the operations of either organization; and
Whereas, Both the City and Milwaukee County can share expertise in their unique areas of service delivery; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the appropriate City officials are authorized and directed to negotiate with Milwaukee County for the sharing of data center space in ITMD and on sharing costs; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the agreement shall be submitted to the Common Council for approval.
