Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept a donation of gun safety locks from the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, to be used by Department to promote gun safety.
Body:
Whereas, Section 304-24 of the City of Milwaukee Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions received by the City; and
Whereas, The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin has offered to donate gun safety locks to the Milwaukee Police Department; and
Whereas, These gun safety locks will be distributed to promote gun safety initiatives; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City of Milwaukee Police Department is authorized to accept a donation of gun safety locks from the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin; and, be it
Further Resolved, That such authority to accept donations for said purpose shall continue, unless otherwise rescinded or amended by future Common Council action.
