Resolution authorizing acceptance and funding of the 2004 HIDTA project
awards. (Milwaukee Police Department)
Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to continue its participation in a High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) project. The Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) will reimburse the City for 45% of salaries and fringe benefits, and 100% of overtime expenses for staff time contributed by the Milwaukee Police Department toward HIDTA
efforts. This funding comes in the form of four separate grant awards,
relating to the four task forces on which Police personnel participate.
Body:
Whereas, The Common Council in file 031402 approved funding for federal fiscal year 2003 for Police Department participation in the Milwaukee HIDTA project; and

Whereas, Programmatic changes and the creation of a new task force within HIDTA, have resulted in additional funding to the Milwaukee Police Department; and

Whereas, The Milwaukee Police Department's participation in these revised HIDTA projects for the period of January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2004 would cost $179,565 of which $105,437 (59%) would be provided by the grantor and $74,128 (41%) would be provided by the City; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application for HIDTA is authorized and the Milwaukee Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council F/ile 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Comptroller of the City of Milwaukee is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2004 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the HIDTA project:
