Title
Resolution relative to the cost participation and installation of computer optimized traffic signal timing and coordination improvements for 22 signalized intersections, primarily along West Lisbon Avenue and West Appleton Avenue from North Sherman Boulevard to North 84th Street.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works under a State/Municipal agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to install the necessary computer optimized traffic signal timing and coordination improvements under the Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) program.
Body:
Whereas, The Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) program provides cost participation for traffic control improvements at locations having air quality improvement potential; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee applied and received approval for Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) funds from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) for the preliminary engineering and installation of computer optimized traffic signal timing and coordination improvements in the project area; and

Whereas, Preliminary engineering was previously authorized by the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee under Resolution File Number 941833; and

Whereas, Eighty percent of the participating project cost or $60,000 is reimbursable from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and should be earmarked for this project in the 2004 Capital Grant and Aid Projects Fund Project/Grant Number SP032040100; and

Whereas, Twenty percent of the participating project cost or $15,000 is non-reimbursable and is included in the Division's 2004 Capital Purpose/Grant Number ST320040000; now, therefore, be it
