Title

Resolution authorizing and directing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a Revised Project Agreement between the City of Milwaukee and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) to include additional project identification numbers which address landscaping and various other pedestrian amenities for the National Avenue project in the City of Milwaukee with 80% Federal and/or State aid under the State Transportation Enhancement Program (TE).

Analysis

This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a Revised Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation  (WISDOT) for the addition of project identification numbers which address the multiple phases of construction, apart from the street lighting phase, including landscaping and various other pedestrian amenities for the National Avenue enhancement between South 1^st Street and South 12^th Street including South 5^th Street from West Virginia Street to West Washington Street and South 6^th Street from West Virginia Street to West National Avenue. The City share of the enhancement project is $147,000.

Body

Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted Resolution File Number 001200 authorizing and directing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) for design and construction of the National Avenue enhancement between South 1^st Street and South 12^th Street including South 5^th Street from West Virginia Street to West Washington Street and South 6^th Street from West Virginia Street to West National Avenue with 80% Federal and/or State aid under a Transportation Enhancement Grant; and

Whereas, The Project Agreement did not include identification numbers for landscaping and pedestrian amenities; and

Whereas, The WISDOT has submitted a Revised Project Agreement to include identification numbers and 80% cost participation for the landscaping and various other pedestrian amenities of the project for City execution; and

Whereas, The total cost distribution for the entire project has not changed from the Project Agreement executed under Resolution File Number 001200; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to execute the Revised Project Agreement for the inclusion of identification numbers for landscaping and pedestrian amenities in the enhancement of National Avenue between South 1^st Street and South 12^th Street including South 5^th Street from West Virginia Street to West Washington Street and South 6^th Street from West Virginia Street to West National Avenue, a copy of which is attached to Common Council Resolution Number 040318 and incorporated in this resolution by reference as though set forth therein in full; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to approve and make periodic payments to WISDOT upon receipt of invoices for the local share costs for the project.
