Title
Resolution authorizing and approving the "First Amendment to Tot Lot, Parking Lot, and Park Lease" between the City of Milwaukee and COA Youth & Family Service Centers concerning premises in the 6th Aldermanic District. (DCD)
Analysis
This resolution authorizes a First Amendment to Lease between the City and COA Youth & Family Service Centers so that COA, in order to obtain a $1,000,000 endowment grant, will be able to rename the "Bluff Lands" portion of the premises that it leases from the City the "Alice Bertschy Kadish Park" until the Common Council may decide otherwise after the expiration or termination of the Lease.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee ("City") and COA Youth & Family Service Centers ("COA") entered into a December 1, 2003 lease (the "Lease") whereby COA leases from the City certain lands south of North Avenue and north of Commerce Street for a term of 25 years, with rent at $1 per year, and with COA agreeing to maintain and operate Kilbourn Park on the "Park" part of the premises; and

Whereas, The City and COA wish to amend the Lease to allow COA to obtain a $1,000,000 endowment grant from the Halbert and Alice Kadish Foundation for ongoing maintenance and programming of the premises that COA leases from the City and to allow COA to name the Bluff Lands part of the premises the "Alice Bertschy Kadish Park;" now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee approves the City entering into a First Amendment to Lease with COA on substantially the same terms and conditions as the "First Amendment to Tot Lot, Parking Lot, and Park Lease," a copy of which is attached to this Common Council File; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the proper City officials are authorized to execute said First Amendment to Lease and take such actions as may be deemed necessary under said First Amendment.
