Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept a donation of a paid subscription service of up to $33,000, from Able Security Systems, Inc. to the "Citizen Observer.Com" web network.
Body:
Whereas, Section 304-24 of the City of Milwaukee Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions received by the City; and
Whereas, Able Security Systems, Inc. has offered to donate a paid subscription to the "Citizen Observer.Com" web network to the Milwaukee Police Department; and
Whereas, This service will allow the Milwaukee Police Department to distribute and receive critical information concerning public safety to residents, businesses, and community groups through various electronic means; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City of Milwaukee Police Department is authorized to accept a donation of a paid subscription of up to $33,000 to the "Citizen Observer.Com" web network; and, be it
Further Resolved, That such authority to accept donations for said purpose shall continue, unless otherwise rescinded or amended by future Common Council action.
