Analysis
This resolution amends Common Council Resolution File Number 040057, adopted on May 25, 2004, relating to acceptance and expenditure of a U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office of Domestic Preparedness FY2004 Urban Areas Security Initiative Program Grant in the amount of $8,142,000. The amendment is necessary because greater than anticipated grant funds of $8,848,999 have been awarded. In addition, due to the greater than anticipated grant award, grant funds will be used for the salaries and benefits of 2 positions of Captain to act as UA Preparedness Planning Coordinators for the departments of Fire and Police for the development of certain interagency operation and regional response plans and the assessment of vulnerabilities.

Whereas, The Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 040057 on May 25, 2004, relating to acceptance and expenditure of a U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office of Domestic Preparedness FY2004 Urban Areas Security Initiative Program Grant; and

Whereas, The state Office of Justice Assistance had notified the City of Milwaukee that the Milwaukee Urban Area was eligible to receive an award of $8,142,000, of which $3,210,000 was to be used by the Milwaukee Fire Department, $2,315,000 by the Milwaukee Police Department and $722,000 by the Milwaukee Health Department, and $795,000 was to be pass-through funding to Milwaukee County, $650,000 to Waukesha County and $450,000 to Washington County; and

Whereas, The state Office of Justice Assistance has now notified the City of Milwaukee that the Milwaukee Urban Area is eligible to receive a greater than anticipated grant award of $8,848,999, of which $3,419,999 will be used by the Milwauk...
