Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of PublicWorks to execute the Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming of the “ETMA/UW-M Bicycle Loan Program”. The project will be funded 80 percent by STP-Discretionary funds, with the remaining 20 percent being paid by UW-M Milwaukee funds.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has actively promoted the expansion of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and

Whereas, The Eastside Transportation Management Association (ETMA) and UW-M Milwaukee have initiated a project that loans bicycles to students for use during the school year; and

Whereas, The ETMA and UW-M are seeking funds to continue the program; and

Whereas, UW-M has committed to funding the local share of the project; and

Whereas, Bicycle and pedestrian projects such as the bike loan program are eligible for the state's CMAQ program; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee applied for CMAQ funds to continue the bike loan program; and

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) has approved this application and submitted a Project Agreement to be executed by the City of Milwaukee for the programming of the project with federal aid under the CMAQ program; now, therefore, be it
