Analysis
This resolution will result in the sale of seven surplus, tax-deed vacant lots for church construction.
Body
Whereas, Common Council File No. 020160 declared seven tax-deed vacant lots in the 2900 block of North 20th Street surplus to municipal needs and authorized the Department of City Development (“DCD”) to accept an Offer to Purchase from Praise Temple Baptist Church for church construction; and

Whereas, Praise Temple Baptist Church purchased an existing facility and has canceled their Offer to Purchase; and

Whereas, Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church has submitted an unsolicited Offer to Purchase said lots, which are listed below, in the amount of $15,000 for construction of a church and associated parking:

Whereas, Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church also has submitted a preliminary site plan and building elevation that is acceptable to DCD in addition to a financial commitment in the amount of $1 million; and

Whereas, The deed of conveyance for some of the lots may contain City-imposed deed restrictions preventing division of said lots and prohibiting construction without the prior approval of the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee; and

Whereas, In order for Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church to assemble the lots and build upon them, the City-imposed deed restrictions must be released; and
