Analysis
This resolution will result in the marketing and sale of remnant parcels of land to adjoining owners.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee (“City”) owns numerous remnant parcels of land that are non-buildable and are identified as follows and on corresponding Plat Maps, copies of which are attached to this Common Council File:

3472-Adjacent South 10th Street, 536-0767-1

3479 South 10th Street, 536-0782-3

3478 South 11th Street, 536-0783-9

; and

Whereas, Said remnant parcels have little monetary value, but have high maintenance costs and the Department of City Development (“DCD”) wishes to market the parcels to qualified adjoining owners to reduce the City's maintenance expenses and liability; and

Whereas, DCD recommends actively marketing said parcels to adjoining property owners for nominal costs as determined by DCD on a case-by-case basis taking into consideration the utility of the land to the adjoining owner and neighborhood property values; and

Whereas, The City Plan Commission has determined that said parcels are surplus to the City's needs; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that said remnant parcels are declared surplus to municipal needs and that DCD is authorized to market and sell said parcels in the above-described manner; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of DCD, or designee, is authorized to accept Offers to Purchase from qualified buyers and to execute the necessary legal documents to effectuate the sales; and, be it
