Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to issue an occupancy permit to the James Cape & Sons Company allowing the company to close the southbound lanes of North 6th Street between West Michigan Street and West Clybourn Avenue for sewer construction work. Southbound traffic would be routed to the east side of the median in 6th Street resulting in one-lane both north and southbound. This situation would only occur for a relatively short time during the overall project.
Body
Whereas, James Cape & Sons Company is under contract with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District to make improvements to the Metropolitan Interceptor Sewer located in North 6th Street between West Michigan Street and West Clybourn Avenue; and

Whereas, A portion of the work will require occupancy by the company of the southbound lanes of North 6th Street; and

Whereas, During such occupancy, southbound traffic will be shifted to the east side of the street resulting in one lane of traffic both northbound and southbound; and

Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works may approve temporary occupancy of up to one-third of public rights-of-way while temporary use beyond that point must be approved by the Common Council; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works and the company will work to minimize the amount of time the southbound lanes are closed; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to issue a permit to James Cape & Sons Company allowing occupancy of the southbound lanes of North 6th Street between West Michigan Street ...
