Analysis
This resolution appropriates $475,682 from the 2004 Common Council Contingent Fund to supplement the Remission of Taxes Fund for refunds ordered by the local Board of Review.
Body
Whereas, As a result of action to be taken by the Board of Review against certain parcels of real estate, the Assessment Commissioner's Office projects a deficit of $475,682 in the Remission of Taxes Fund (0001-9990-S163-006300); and
Whereas, No funds are available to transfer from other accounts in its budget appropriations; and
Whereas, This projected deficit is largely due to uncontrollable circumstances, such as, reductions by the Board of Review under Section 70.47(9) of the Wisconsin Statutes and claims filed under Section 74.35 of the Wisconsin Statutes; and
Whereas, Under Section 70.511(2)(b) of the Wisconsin Statutes, claims for the refund of taxes filed by taxpayers shall be payable by the municipality; therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that $475,682 be, and hereby is, appropriated from the 2004 Common Council Contingent Fund (0001-9990-C001-006300) to the Remission of Taxes Fund, Special Purpose Account (0001-9990- S163 Account 006300).
