Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the cancellation of demolition costs of $15,589.19 for the property located at 2129-31 West Hopkins Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Body:
Whereas, The property located at 2129-31 West Hopkins Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin was the subject of a condemnation order from the City of Milwaukee Department of Neighborhood Services; and

Whereas, The raze order was previously deemed reasonable and the City of Milwaukee put the demolition out for bids and accepted the low bid of $15,589.19 including added costs; and

Whereas, The property located at 2129-31 West Hopkins Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin is solely owned by the Rose Of Sharon Church; and

Whereas, The property owner was invoiced for this amount and after a failure to pay was the subject of collection efforts by the Kohn Law Firm on behalf of City of Milwaukee to collect the demolition costs; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee, through the collection efforts by the Kohn Law Firm on behalf of City of Milwaukee, has been unable to enforce collection of the demolition costs; and

Whereas, The Kohn Law Firm has determined that the Rose Of Sharon Church has no assets from which to pay the demolition costs; and

Whereas, That the parties reached an agreement wherein the property owner will pay the city $7,795.00 as settlement of demolition and razing expenses of $15,589.19; and

Whereas, The settlement of the demolition and razing expenses is in the best interests of the City; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, to withdraw the invoice for $15,589.19 against the property at 2129-31 West Hopkins Street and accept a settlement payment of $7,795.00 in which the defendant shall pay within 30-days of receiving writte...
