Resolution relating to the Department of Neighborhood Services' acceptance and expenditure of a grant from the National Council to Prevent Delinquency for anti-graffiti activities.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department Neighborhood Services' acceptance and expenditure of grant funds of $5,000 from the National Council to Prevent Delinquency. The funds would be used to revise brochures about graffiti abatement, translate the Retail Awareness Booklet in Spanish or other languages for distribution to retailers, expand the anti-graffiti web site, and place placards in public transportation. The money would also be used to prepare educational materials for distribution to area schools.
Body
Whereas, The National Council to Prevent Delinquency is a non-profit corporation, whose primary goal is to prevent young people from misusing or illegally using consumer products; and

Whereas, The National Council to Prevent Delinquency (NCPD) sponsors a program called the Anti-Graffiti Project, which focuses on preventing and reducing graffiti vandalism; and

Whereas, The National Council to Prevent Delinquency considers the City of Milwaukee's Anti-Graffiti Program to be a model for other municipalities; and

Whereas, Because of the city's exceptional Anti-Graffiti Program, NCPD will provide $5,000 in grant funds to enhance and expand the city's program; and

Whereas, The Department of Neighborhood Services will use the funds to update current informational brochures; provide the Retail Awareness Booklet in Spanish and other languages; prepare educational materials regarding graffiti abatement for distribution to area schools; place placards in public transportation and expand the anti-graffiti web site; now, therefore, be it
