Substitute resolution relating to the Milwaukee Fire Department's application for, acceptance and expenditure of FY 2002 Domestic Preparedness Program Grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department to apply for, accept and expend $92,014 from the Federal Office of Justice Programs FY 2002 Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team Domestic Preparedness Grant Program. The Milwaukee Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team will use the funds for the purchase of rescue equipment.

Body
Whereas, The Federal Office of Justice awarded funds to the state Division of Wisconsin Emergency Management for disbursement to various jurisdictions to enhance the capabilities of local first responders by enabling them to purchase advanced levels of rescue equipment; and

Whereas, Wisconsin Emergency Management notified the Milwaukee Fire Department that it is eligible to receive an award of $92,014; and

Whereas, The Milwaukee Fire Department will use the funds to purchase various types of rescue equipment including thermal imaging cameras, Jaws of Life hydraulic tools, and high pressure air bags; and

Whereas, No state or local matching funds are required; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Fire Department is authorized to apply for, accept and expend grant funds of $92,014 from the Federal Office of Justice Programs FY 2002 Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team Domestic Preparedness Grant Program for the purchase of equipment, in accordance with established City policies; and, be it

Further Resolved,That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Grant Parent Account of the 2004 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Projects Fund; the following amounts for the project/program entitled FY 2002 Domestic Preparedness Program Grant:
