Title
Resolution relating to the acceptance of private contributions for improvements to the Bremen Street Neighborhood Play Area in the 3rd Aldermanic District in the City of Milwaukee. (Buildings and Fleet Services)
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works - Buildings and Fleet Services to accept up to $30,000 in private contributions and material for the reconstruction of the City of Milwaukee's Bremen Street Neighborhood Play Area.
Body
Whereas, The Bremen Street Neighborhood Play Area has been scheduled for renovation to bring the equipment into compliance with current guidelines; and

Whereas, The neighborhood, in the vicinity of the Bremen Street Play Area, is interested in working with the Department of Public Works - Buildings and Fleet Services to redevelop the play area in a manner that would better serve the neighborhood's needs; and

Whereas, The Bremen Street Neighborhood has committed to working with area school children and artists in developing various art projects to be included in the final redevelopment of the Bremen Street Neighborhood Play Area; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works - Buildings and Fleet Services estimates the total cost of upgrading the Bremen Street Neighborhood Play Area, including removal of the existing asphalt playground, walks, and children's play equipment, installation of new play equipment, benches, walks, and landscaping to be $60,000; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works - Buildings and Fleet Services, in its 2003 Recreational Facilities Capital Improvement Program, has budgeted $15,000 for this project; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works - Buildings and Fleet Services has received an additional $45,000 in Community Development Block Grant Funds for this project; and
