Body
Whereas, Gregory Thornton, has filed a lawsuit against the City of Milwaukee seeking an unspecified amount of damages; and
Whereas, The trial court has entered a judgment in this lawsuit against the City of Milwaukee in the amount of $657,174.20, and, under federal and state law, certain other items, including attorneys fees and interest are due and owing in addition to the judgment amount; and
Whereas, The City Attorney recommends and the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee deems it expeditious and just to pay this lawsuit; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the proper City officers be and hereby are authorized and directed to issue a City check in the amount of $736,452.88 payable to the order of the Trust Account of Schiro & Zarzynski, and $29,952.04 payable to the Trust Account Eggert & Cermele, S.C., in full and final settlement of all monetary damages sought in this lawsuit, upon receipt of releases of claim, approved as to form and execution by the City Attorney, said amount to be charged to the Damages and Claims Fund, Account No. 636506 0001 1490 2631 S118-2003.
