Analysis
This resolution will result in the sale of a portion of a parcel of City-owned land.
Body
Whereas, The Garfield Foundation, Inc., (“Foundation”) with its property located at 2933-57 North Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, has offered $4,500 to purchase a portion of the City-owned land adjoining its property; and

Whereas, Said City-owned land is a portion of the property acquired for construction of the King Library (“Library”) and has been determined to be surplus to the Library's needs; and

Whereas, The Library has been leasing said portion of 310 West Locust Street to the Garfield Foundation, Inc., for several years and now wishes to sell it to the Foundation; and

Whereas, The Department of City Development (“DCD”) recommends acceptance of the Offer from the Foundation; and

Whereas, Said land is being sold in an “as is” condition and the City makes no representations as to soil or subsoil condition; and

Whereas, The City Plan Commission has determined that said land is surplus to municipal needs; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that said land is declared surplus, that the Offer from the Garfield Foundation, Inc. is accepted, that the Commissioner of DCD, or assigns, is authorized and directed to perform such acts as necessary to carry out the intent of this resolution and that the proceeds from the sale, less a 20 percent disposition cost reimbursement to the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee, be credited to the Milwaukee Public Library, Account No. 00018611670...
