Substitute resolution authorizing the renewal of Water Services Agreement with We Energies for water service to Mequon and Thiensville.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the proper City officials to execute the renewal agreement with Wisconsin Gas Company (d/b/a We Energies Water Services) operating as a public water utility for the purpose of water at wholesale to serve the City of Mequon and the Village of Thiensville.
Body
Whereas, The Common Council under Resolution No. 980692 authorized the proper City officials to execute a water service agreement with Wisconsin Gas Company to serve areas within the City of Mequon; and
Whereas, The Common Council under Resolution No. 010908 granted permission to adjust the service area boundaries of the water service agreement to include the Village of Thiensville, which lies wholly within the boundaries of the City of Mequon; and
Whereas, The terms of the existing agreement expire in November 2003; and
Whereas, Agreement has been reached with the Wisconsin Gas Company on the contract for the purchase of water at wholesale and Wisconsin Gas Company officials have approved the renewal agreement; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to execute the Agreement between the City of Milwaukee and Wisconsin Gas Company (d/b/a We Energies Water Services) for the purchase of water at wholesale, attached to this File; and be it
Further Resolved, That the Water Works file with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, a fully executed copy of the Agreement.
