Resolution authorizing the acceptance and expenditure of contributions received by the Milwaukee Fire Department for fire safety education programs.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department to accept and expend private contributions of up to $100,000 for fire safety education programs.
Body
Whereas, The Milwaukee Fire Department's Bureau of Instruction and Training is responsible for developing a fire-safe community by educating the public in fire safety including basic self protection, evacuation procedures for public buildings and residences, fire extinguisher use, and fire prevention; and
Whereas, The Milwaukee Fire Department has received offers of private contributions to help defray costs related to fire safety education; and
Whereas, Creation of a fund will allow the Milwaukee Fire Department to accept contributions from private organizations; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Fire Department is authorized to accept up to $100,000 in private contributions for fire safety education and to expend such funds for this purpose, no more than the amount actually received, in accordance with established City policies; and, be it
Further Resolved, That upon receipt and deposit of these funds, the City Comptroller is directed to establish a special account within the Milwaukee Fire Department budget for the expenditure of the funds; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is directed to transfer appropriations and estimated revenue from the Special Purpose Account-Contributions (0001-2110-0001-D001-006300-2003) and the Estimated Revenue Account for Contributions (0001-2110-0001- - 009850-2003) to the Fire Department special account (0001-3280-0001-Dxxx-006300-2003) and the Fire Department estimated revenue account (0001-3280-0001- -98...
