Title
Substitute resolution declaring various remnant parcels of land surplus and authorizing the Department of City Development to market them to the adjoining owners for a nominal cost, in various Aldermanic Districts.
Analysis
This substitute resolution will result in the sale of various remnant parcels to adjoining owners.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has numerous remnant parcels of land, some of which are one to six-foot strips and others landlocked; and

Whereas, These remnant parcels have little or no monetary value and the Department of City Development ("DCD") wishes to dispose of them to reduce the City's maintenance cost and ownership liability; and

Whereas, DCD recommends actively marketing these remnant parcels to adjoining property owners for a fair market amount determined by DCD on a case-by-case basis, taking into consideration the utility of the land for the adjoining owner and neighborhood real estate market values; and

Whereas, The City Plan Commission has determined that such remnant parcels are surplus to the City's needs; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that remnant parcels of not more than six feet in width and/or landlocked parcels of less than 2,500 square feet in the City's real estate inventory are declared surplus, that the Department of City Development is authorized and directed to dispose of these parcels in the above-described manner and that the proper City officials are authorized and directed to perform such acts as necessary to carry out the intent of this resolution with the proceeds from sales credited to the Reserve For Tax Deficit Fund Account or other appropriate departmental accounts.
