Analysis
This resolution settles the claim of Patrick Tannhaeuser for DNS abatement fees by reducing the building re-inspection fees of $3,153.50 (principal amount of $2,975 and interest amount of $178.50) by $1,431 (principal amount of $1,350 and interest amount of $81). The principal amount of $1,350 represents the building re-inspection fees incurred during the months from December 2001 to April 2002. The claimant's balance due on or before July 31, 2003 is $1,722.50. DNS is directed to pay the City Treasurer the amount of $1,431 from the department's revenue account.

Whereas, Members of the Judiciary and Legislation Committee have reviewed the records relating to the orders to the claimant, Patrick Tannhaeuser, to paint his property and have taken testimony from the claimant and City representatives relating to DNS fees imposed upon the claimant; and
Whereas, Based on this review, members of the committee believe it is most cost-effective to compromise and reduce the building re-inspection fees of $3,153.50 (principal amount of $2,975 and interest amount of $178.50) by $1,431 (principal amount of $1,350 and interest amount of $81); and
Whereas, The principal amount of $1,350 represents the building re-inspection fees incurred during the months from December 2001 to April 2002; and
Whereas, Pending passage of this resolution, the claimant's balance due to the City by July 31, 2003 will be $1,722.50, reduced from $3,153.50; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officers are authorized and directed to reduce the claimant's balance of $3,153.50 to $1,722.50 due on or before July 31, 2003; and, be it
