Analysis
This ordinance increases the fee for a fireworks display from the current $100 to $150 and increases the range of forfeitures that may be imposed for violating the provisions of the code of ordinances related to fireworks displays from the current $100-$500 to $250-$1,000.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 200-33-18 of the code is repealed and recreated to read:
200-33. Fees.
18. FIREWORKS DISPLAY. The fee for each fireworks display permit shall be $150.
Part 2. Section 236-31-8 of the code is amended to read:
236-31. Fireworks.
8. PENALTY. Any person violating this section shall upon conviction forfeit not less than $[[100]] >>250<< nor more than $[[500]] >>1,000<<, and upon default thereof shall be imprisoned in the county jail or house of correction for a period not to exceed [[10]] >>40<< days, or until the forfeiture and costs are paid.
