Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the City Comptroller to transfer funds and create subaccounts for preliminary engineering work on the South 27th Street Bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad Right of Way. This scheduled bridge rehabilitation work will be done as part of the previously authorized project to improve South 27th Street between West Oklahoma Avenue and West Lincoln Avenue. The bridge work is eligible for 100% Federal/State construction cost participation and 75% Federal/State cost participation for preliminary engineering. Preliminary engineering is estimated at $90,000, of which the City's share is $22,500.

Whereas, Common Council Resolution File Number 981633, adopted March 23, 1999, authorized and directed the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) for the improvement of South 27th Street (STH 241) between West Oklahoma Avenue and West Lincoln Avenue with Federal and/or State Aid; and

Whereas, The existing bridge carrying South 27th Street over the Union Pacific Railroad Right of Way is in need of rehabilitation work and it is desirable to undertake the rehabilitation work with the adjacent improvement of South 27th Street; and

Whereas, The bridge preliminary engineering work is eligible for 75% Federal/State cost participation and the construction is eligible for 100% Federal/State participation; and
