Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept a donation of terrorism preparedness equipment from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department to enhance the response capability of the Police Department to respond to acts of terrorism involving the use of weapons of mass destruction.  
Body
Whereas, The Milwaukee Police Department has received from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department an offer for the donation of terrorism preparedness equipment, which includes 575 QuickMasks and one radiation detector; and
 
Whereas, The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department is purchasing the terrorism preparedness equipment, which is valued at $81,200, through an equipment grant award administered by Wisconsin Emergency Management and provided by the United States Department of Justice-Office of Justice Programs-Office for Domestic Preparedness; and
 
Whereas, The terrorism preparedness equipment will enhance the capability of the Police Department to respond to acts of terrorism involving the use of weapons of mass destruction; and
 
Whereas, Section 304-24 of the City of Milwaukee Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions received by the City; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Police Department is authorized to accept a donation of terrorism preparedness equipment from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department, in accordance with established City policies and procedures for acceptance of contributions.
