Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of PublicWorks to execute the Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming of the City of Milwaukee Bike Plan Update. The project will be funded 80 percent by STP-Discretionary funds, with the remaining 20 percent being paid by City funds.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has actively promoted the expansion of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and

Whereas, The current City of Milwaukee Bicycle Plan was completed in 1990, as part of a City of Milwaukee 10-year Transportation Plan; and

Whereas, Many changes have occurred over the past 12 years in both area-wide bicycle planning efforts and in new commercial and residential developments, which makes an update to Milwaukee's Bicycle Plan desirable; and

Whereas, Bicycle and pedestrian projects such as the City of Milwaukee Bike Plan Update are eligible for the state's STP-Discretionary program; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee applied for STP-Discretionary funds to undertake the City of Milwaukee Bike Plan Update; and

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) has approved this application and submitted a Project Agreement to be executed by the City of Milwaukee for the programming of the project with federal aid under the STP-Discretionary program; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works (CPW) is hereby authorized and directed to execute the Project ...
