Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 302-9 of the code is created to read:
302-9. Campaign Financing. 1. PURPOSE. The city of Milwaukee is committed to ensuring the veracity of information provided in the campaign finance reports filed with the city election commission of all city elected public officials and candidates for city elective office. The intent of this section is to require all candidates and elected officials to provide financial documentation with their final campaign finance report of each year to the city election commission to verify the reported balance in their campaign accounts.
2. DEFINITIONS. In this section:
a. "Candidate" means every person for whom it is contemplated or desired that votes be cast at any election held within the city of Milwaukee.
b. "Elective office" means mayor, common council member, city attorney, comptroller, municipal judge and city treasurer.
c. "Elected public official" means every person currently holding elective office.
d. "Financial documentation" means a statement or report from a bank or credit union.
e. "Campaign finance report" means a report as defined in s. 11.12, Wis. Stats., as amended.
