Title
Substitute resolution relative to an appeal of the Historic Preservation Commission's action denying a certificate of appropriateness for a retaining wall/planting box at 2505 North Grant Boulevard (Grant Boulevard Historic District).
Analysis
This resolution reverses the October 14, 2002, decision of the Historic
Preservation Commission denying a certificate of appropriateness for a request to install a retaining wall/planting box at 2505 North Grant Boulevard. This resolution would, in effect, permit such retaining wall/planting box installation to proceed.
Body
Whereas, The property at 2505 North Grant Boulevard is within the area
designated as the Grant Boulevard Historic District, and the owners
of all buildings within historic districts are required to seek a certificate of
appropriateness from the Historic Preservation Commission before in any
way altering the exterior of their buildings; and
 
Whereas, The owner of this property has requested a certificate of appropriateness for the purpose of installing a retaining wall/planting box at the property located at 2505 North Grant Boulevard; and
 
Whereas, The Historic Preservation Commission, on  October 14, 2002, rejected this request after a public hearing; and
 
Whereas, The owner of this property, pursuant to s. 308-81-9-f of the Milwaukee Code, is entitled to appeal this decision of the Historic Preservation Commission to the Common Council, and has filed a request for a hearing of his appeal in a timely manner; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the October 14, 2002, decision of the Historic Preservation Commission denying a certificate of appropriateness for a retaining wall/planting box installation at 2505 North Grant Boulevard is reversed.
