Title
Substitute resolution authorizing the transfer and expenditure of $100,000 from the Development Fund for the Fond du Lac Avenue and Capitol Drive (Midtown Center) Commercial District Streetscape Project.
Analysis
This substitute resolution approves the expenditure of $100,000 for the Fond du Lac Avenue and Capitol Drive (Midtown Center) Commercial District Streetscape Project. The streetscape improvements will include banners, extensive landscaping, seasonal displays and other commercial district identification enhancements.
Body
Whereas, The 2002 Capital Budget for the City of Milwaukee ("City") contains $100,000 in the Development Fund; and

Whereas, The City has an ongoing commitment to the revitalization of neighborhood commercial districts; and

Whereas, The Midtown Center project was created as a result of the redevelopment of the Capitol Court Shopping Center; and

Whereas, The Midtown Center Neighborhood Commercial District Streetscape Project will further sustain the revitalization of this commercial district; and

Whereas, These public way improvements will greatly enhance the Midtown Center Neighborhood Commercial District; and

Whereas, The State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation has identified project funds, which exceed the amount of City funds to be used for this project; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the proper City officials are authorized and directed to transfer $100,000 from the Development Fund to Project Account No. UR03394100; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller, in conjunction with the Commissioner of the Department of City Development, is authorized and directed to establish any and all subaccounts and follow the City guidelines necessary to maintain the fiscal control to carry out the intent and purpose of this resolution; and, be it
