Analysis

Midtown Center is located on the redeveloped site of the former Capitol Court Shopping Center located in the area bounded by West Capitol Drive, West Congress Street, West Fond du Lac Avenue, North 55^th Street and North 60^th Street.  This development has buildings that front on an internal road system.  By the City recognizing the private roads, known as West Hope Avenue and North 56^th Street, addresses can be assigned from these private roads to support mail delivery and emergency responses.  The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the naming of West Hope Avenue and North 56^th Street as private roads.

Body

Whereas, Midtown Center, located in the area bounded by West Capitol Drive, West Congress Street, West Fond du Lac Avenue, North 55^th Street and North 60^th Street, has an internal road system to support traffic circulation within the shopping center; and

Whereas, By the City recognizing West Hope Avenue and North 56^th Street as private roads, building addresses can be assigned to support mail delivery and emergency service responses; and

Whereas, Chapter 113-1 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances, which provides for the naming of private roadways, will be complied with in that this road will be marked with brown street name signs and described so that this road can be identified on the City's engineering quarter section; and

Whereas, As a condition of adopting this resolution Boulder Venture 9, LLC, the developer of Midtown Center, is responsible for placing these brown street signs at their cost as well as stop signs, at their cost, on both ends of North 56^th Street so that south bound traffic will stop at West Capitol Drive and north bound traffic will stop at West Fond du Lac Avenue; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the aforementioned private roads be described as follows:

West Hope Avenue

The centerline of a variable width private road from North 56^th Street extended, to North 60^th Street in the Southwest ¼ of Section 2, Township 7 North, Range 21 East, in the City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, described as follows:

Commencing at the southwest corner of said ¼ Section; thence North 00 deg. 00 min. 07 sec. West, along the west line of said ¼ Section, 1332.53 feet to a point; thence due East 31.24 feet to a point; thence South 79 deg. 09 min. 24 sec. East 37.43 feet to a point on the east line of North 60^th Street and the point of beginning of the centerline to be described; thence continuing South 79 deg. 09 min. 24 sec. East 155.54 feet to a point; thence South 89 deg. 59 min. 55 sec. East 758.65 feet to a point on the west line of a public access easement and the point of termination of said centerline.

North 56^th Street

A variable width private road from West Capitol Drive to West Fond du Lac Avenue in the Southwest ¼ of Section 2, Township 7 North, Range 21 East, in the City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, described as follows:

Commencing at the southwest corner of said ¼ Section; thence North 89 deg. 49 min. 54 sec. East, along the south line of said ¼ Section, 979.64 feet to a point; thence North 00 deg. 00 min. 42 sec. West 60.00 feet to a point on the north line of West Capitol Drive and the point of beginning of the land to be described; thence continuing North 00 deg. 00 min. 42 sec. West 1324.77 feet to a point; thence North 45 deg. 55 min. 22 sec. East 332.44 feet to a point on the present southwest line of West Fond du Lac Avenue; thence South 43 deg. 45 min. 27 sec. East, along said present southwest line, 110.00 feet to a point; thence South 48 deg. 12 min. 45 sec. West 304.30 feet to a point; thence South 00 deg. 00 min. 42 sec. East 1273. 54 feet to a point on the north line of West Capitol Drive; thence South 89 deg. 49 min. 54 sec. West, along said north line, 88.00 feet to the point of beginning.
