Title
Resolution authorizing and directing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a revised agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for programming and construction of North Teutonia Avenue from West Ruby Street to West Villard Avenue with Federal and/or State aid under the Surface Transportation Program. Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a revised project agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for programming and construction of North Teutonia Avenue from West Ruby Street to West Villard Avenue with 80 percent Federal and/or State aid under the Surface Transportation Program. The revised agreement adds construction, real estate, railroad work and traffic control costs to be undertaken with 80 percent Federal and/or State funds. An agreement for preliminary engineering work was executed in 1996. The total estimated cost for the project is $3,285,000 of which the City's share is $657,000.

Whereas, A project agreement was executed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the City of Milwaukee for the preliminary engineering work for the improvement of North Teutonia Avenue from West Ruby Street to West Villard Avenue in accordance with Common Council Resolution File Number 951218, adopted on December 19, 1995; and
Whereas, Preliminary engineering activities have begun; and
Whereas, A revised project agreement, adding the construction, real estate, railroad work and traffic control phases of the project to the previously approved preliminary engineering funding has been received from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) to be executed by the City of Milwaukee for the North Teutonia Avenue project; and
Whereas, Estimated costs of all phases of this project are as indicated in the revised project agreement; and
Whereas, Funds for the additional phases of this project will be included in future resolutions; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to execute the revised project agreement for the programming and construction of North Teutonia Avenue from West Ruby Street to West Villard Avenue with Federal and/or State aid under the Surface Transportation program, a copy of which is attached to Common Council Resolution File Number 020464, and is incorporated in this resolution by reference as though set forth in full; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a future agreement with the WISDOT pertaining to the cost participation for the installation and/or modification of traffic control facilities and/or street lighting facilities in conjunction with the improvement of North Teutonia Avenue from West Ruby Street to West Villard Avenue; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to install the traffic control and/or street lighting facilities necessary in conjunction with the North Teutonia Avenue project, following the execution of the traffic control and/or street lighting agreements, the cost of which will be included in future resolutions; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to approve and make periodic payment to the WISDOT upon receipt of invoices for the City's share of costs of the project.
