Analysis
This motion of the Common Council appoints a Municipal Court Judge, Branch 2 to fill a vacancy due to a resignation.
Body
Whereas, The Judiciary and Legislation Committee on June 24, 2002, approved a procedure for filling of the vacancy in the office of municipal court judge; and
Whereas, Fifteen applicants have filed letters of application and resumes with the City Clerk for the vacant position. One candidate withdrew his name from consideration; and
Whereas, The Judicial Selection Committee of the Milwaukee Bar Association has reviewed the remaining fourteen letters of application and resumes and rated the candidates as "Highly Qualified" and "Qualified" and the Judiciary and Legislation Committee agreed to interview four candidates, the two rated as "Highly Qualified" and two others rated as "Qualified"; and
Whereas, The Judiciary and Legislation Committee held a public hearing on June 26, 2002 and interviewed the four candidates, and recommended a candidate to fill the vacancy in Municipal Court, Branch 2; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, hereby appoints Derek Mosely, to fill the vacancy in the office of Municipal Court Judge, Branch 2, pursuant to Section 8.50 (4)(fm) of the Wisconsin Statutes, to become effective on August 1, 2002.
