Title
Substitute resolution assigning a portion of the Police Administration Building (749 West State Street) to Municipal Court for use by Wisconsin Correctional Services.

Analysis
This resolution assigns Room 204 of the Police Administration Building, (estimated by the Police Department to be 1,850 square feet in size) to Municipal Court for use by Wisconsin Correctional Services (WCS), no later than October 1, 2002. The City's 2002 capital improvement budget allocated $83,900 for the improvement of space in the Police Administration Building for use by WCS which provides casework support services to certain persons making appearances before the municipal court.

Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee's 2002 budget included a $83,900 capital allocation for the remodeling of space in the Milwaukee Police Department Administration Building, 749 West State Street; and

Whereas, The remodeled space was intended for use by Wisconsin Correctional Services (WCS) which provides casework support services to certain persons making appearances before the municipal court; and

Whereas, WCS was unable to move into some of the remodeled space pending the relocation of police department staff to the new Third District Police Station and communications facility – a relocation that has since taken place; and

Whereas, Pursuant to both s. 62.11(5), Wis. Stats., and s. 4-10 of the Milwaukee City Charter, the management and control of municipal property is vested in the Common Council; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council assigns Room 204 (the southwest quadrant of the second floor) of the Police Administration Building to Municipal Court for use by Wisconsin Correctional Services, no later than October 1, 2002.
