Analysis
Adoption of this resolution by at least two-thirds vote of the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee will approve the blight designation of the properties at 534 West North Avenue, 622 West North Avenue and 626 West North Avenue, authorize their acquisition by the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee utilizing the Spot Acquisition procedures set forth in Section 66.1333, Wisconsin Statutes, and identify a funding source for the Projects.
Body
Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee ("Council") by passage of File No. 010087 approved the amended boundaries of the North 7th Street – West North Avenue Redevelopment Project Area to facilitate development of an African American Cultural and Entertainment District and a Redevelopment Plan is currently being prepared; and

Whereas, The owners of the properties identified below and within the project boundary have offered to sell their properties to the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee ("Authority") in advance of the approval of the Redevelopment Plan:

534 West North Avenue (Tax Key No. 323-0691-000-X)

622 West North Avenue (Tax Key No. 323-0656-000-9)

626 West North Avenue (Tax Key No. 323-0655-000-3)

Whereas, Before the Authority can acquire property prior to adoption of a Redevelopment Plan, the properties must be declared blighted pursuant to Section 66.1333(5)(c), Wisconsin Statutes, as amended; and
