Title
Resolution amending Common Council File No. 981664 to allow for application, acceptance and expenditure of additional grant funding relating to the flood of June 1997. (DCD)
Analysis
With this resolution, the City accepts an additional amount of $48,026.50 in Federal Emergency Management Administration grant funds to repair damage at the Northlawn housing development caused by the flood of June 1997. This amount will be matched by an additional amount of $6,783.50 from the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee. This resolution further authorizes the City Comptroller to create the necessary project/grant values, perform the necessary budget transfers and take other actions relating to the budgeting of the disaster assistance program. In addition, this resolution authorizes Housing Authority officials to expend the grant funds on repairs to damaged furnaces, hot water heaters, plywood partitions and supplies in basements of 248 units and the office at the Northlawn housing development.
Body
Whereas, On January 20, 1998, the Common Council adopted File No. 971282, a resolution accepting a total of $2,299,576 in federal and state disaster assistance to repair damage to City-owned property resulting from the flood of June 1997; and

Whereas, On March 23, 1999, the Common Council adopted File No. 981664 for the acceptance of additional federal and state assistance for damage incurred by the City during said flood; and

Whereas, The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee obtained flood insurance for these properties and provided detailed documentation of its flood-related expenditures to the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs, Emergency Management Division, which administers grants of federal disaster assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Administration; now, therefore, be it
