Analysis
This resolution authorizes payment of the settlement amount agreed to in the lawsuit entitled  Estate of Clarence M. Thurman, III, et al. v. City of Milwaukee, et al. in the amount of $150,000.00.
Body
Whereas, The Estate of Clarence Michael Thurman, Carmen Evans and Janice Thurman filed a lawsuit against the City of Milwaukee, Arthur Jones and former Officer Keith Bernard Miller, seeking an unspecified amount of damages as a result of the shooting death of Clarence M. Thurman III, which occurred on or about August 3, 1996; and
 
Whereas, The parties have agreed to a total settlement amount of $150,000.00; and
 
Whereas, The City Attorney recommends and the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee deems it expeditious and just to pay this judgment; now, therefore be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the proper City officers be and are hereby authorized and directed to issue a City check in the amount of $150,000.00, payable to the order of Law Offices of Kenneth N. Flaxman, P.C., Janice Thurman, individually, and as special administrator of Clarence Michael III, and Carmen Evans, a minor, by Sabrina Evans, in full and final resolution of this claim, said amount to be charged to the Damages and Claims Fund, Account No. 636506 0001 1490 2631 S118-2002.
