Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department to apply for an Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The purpose of the program is to enhance fire and emergency medical services in the City of Milwaukee by initiating a pilot Safety Program. This would allow the department to fund four civilian positions for one year, and purchase necessary fire equipment, vehicles, and office supplies.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for funding four civilian positions for one year, and purchase necessary fire equipment, vehicles, and office supplies; and
 
Whereas, The operation of this grant program is from October 1, 2002, to September 30, 2003; now therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Fire Department is authorized to apply for the 2002 Fire Act Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
