Substitute resolution authorizing the return of real estate located at 1805 West Monroe Street, in the 17th Aldermanic District of the City of Milwaukee to its former owner upon payment of all city and county tax liens and any special improvement bonds, with all interest and penalty thereon and all costs as sustained by the City in foreclosing and managing said real estate. Body
Whereas, The property located at 1805 West Monroe Street, tax key number 351-2682-100-8 previously owned by Lowell E. Davis, has delinquent taxes for 1999 - 2001 and was foreclosed upon pursuant to Sec. 75.521, Wis. Stats., and a fee simple absolute was obtained in favor of the City of Milwaukee dated January 14, 2002; and
Whereas, Lowell E. Davis, would like to reclaim said property by paying all City and County real estate taxes, plus accrued interest and penalties to date of payment, and all costs as sustained by the City in the foreclosing and management of said property since January 14, 2002; and
Whereas, The Department of Neighborhood Services opposes returning this property. It is a blighting influence on the neighborhood, has been condemned in the past and is in the Lindsay Heights development area. The owner only recently took title and does not appear to have done anything to improve the conditions of this property. If the property is returned, the owner should be required to enter into a Restoration Agreement which includes a cash deposit of $7,500; and
Whereas, The City Treasurer's records show outstanding 1999 - 2001 taxes, plus interest, penalties and costs; and
