Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of City Development, in cooperation with the Westown Association, to prepare design guidelines for a portion of the downtown in the 4th Aldermanic District. It transfers $20,000 from the Year 2002 Advance Planning Fund into a subaccount for the preparation of the guidelines. This resolution also provides authority for the proper City officials to enter into a Cooperation Agreement with the Westown Association to accomplish the preparation of the guidelines.
Body
Whereas, The Department of City Development ("DCD") continues to prepare plans and revise development regulations for areas within the City of Milwaukee; and

Whereas, The Westown Association has requested that DCD prepare design guidelines for the part of downtown generally bounded by the Milwaukee River on the east, the Menomonee River on the south, I-43 on the west, and Juneau Avenue on the north, and has offered to assist DCD in funding and preparing the guidelines; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Department of City Development is authorized and directed to prepare design guidelines for the Westown area in cooperation with the Westown Association; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the proper City officials are authorized to enter into a Cooperation Agreement with the Westown Association for the preparation of said design guidelines consistent with the terms outlined in Exhibit A, a copy of which is attached to this Common Council File; and, be it
