Analysis
This resolution satisfies the statutory requirements of Section 66.1333(6)(e) of the Wisconsin Statutes regarding the prohibition of new construction in a Redevelopment Project Area by the Common Council after a Redevelopment Plan has been certified by the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee. Adoption of this resolution pursuant to this Subsection of Wisconsin Law is mandatory, not elective.
Body
Whereas, On May 5, 2001, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee ("Common Council") adopted File No. 001786, which authorized and directed the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee to prepare a Redevelopment Plan for the area bounded generally by East Greenfield Avenue, the Kinnickinnic River, and the Union Pacific Railroad Company right-of-way, pursuant to the applicable provisions of Section 66.1333, Wisconsin Statutes; and

Whereas, On October 12, 2001, the Common Council adopted File No. 010731 approving a Redevelopment Plan for the hereinabove described area, now known as the Solvay Coke Redevelopment Project Area, dated August 2001; and

Whereas, On November 27, 2001, in a communication related to File No. 010731 and to this File, a true and correct copy of the above identified Redevelopment Plan was certified to the Common Council pursuant to Section 66.1333(6)(e), Wisconsin Statutes, as amended, with a request that all new construction within the Project Area not consistent and/or in conformance with the Redevelopment Plan be permanently prohibited as mandated by said Section; now, therefore, be it
