This resolution transfers $1,500,000 from the 2001 Common Council Contingent Fund to the Department of Employe Relations - Employe Benefits Division, Basic Plan Claims Special Purpose Account to help cover a projected 15% cost increase related to claims generated by employes covered by the City's Basic Plan.

Whereas, The Department of Employe Relations - Employe Benefits Division, Basic Plan Claims Special Purpose Account was funded in 2001 at $22,480,000 including a recent transfer of $380,000; and
Whereas, The Employe Benefits Division and the Budget Office agree that the projected expenditures in 2001 for Basic Plan claims will be at least $24,000,000 based on an increase of 15% in Basic Plan claims expenses; and
Whereas, These expenditures are non-discretionary; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that an amount not to exceed $1,500,000 be transferred from the Common Council Contingent Fund (0001-9990-0001-C001-006300-2001) to the Basic Plan Claims Special Purpose Account (613001-0001-1654-1613-S114-2001); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the appropriate City officials are authorized and directed to take whatever steps are necessary to fulfill the intent of this resolution.
