Resolution relative to the City of Milwaukee's 2002 UPAF/Visions campaign and the inclusion of the Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation, Inc. as a participating Visions organization/donation recipient. (Forestry)
Analysis
This resolution recognizes the importance of the UPAF/Visions campaign and encourages support by City of Milwaukee employees.  It further authorizes the inclusion of Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation, Inc. as a participating Visions organization/donation recipient in the City of Milwaukee's 2002 UPAF/Visions campaign.
Body
Whereas, The annual UPAF/Visions campaign offers City of Milwaukee employees an opportunity to provide financial support to local arts groups and educational, cultural, environmental and recreations programs; and
 
Whereas, In 2001 UPAF gifts supported 20 local arts groups, while city employees could designate their Visions donations for support of one or more of the following:  The Milwaukee Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Pabst Theater, Milwaukee Recreation Fund, Milwaukee Urban Forestry Fund, Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee Public Museum, Milwaukee Arts Board, Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, and the Wisconsin Lake Schooner Education Association; and
 
Whereas, Like the 2001 participants, the Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation, Inc. offers artistic and educational enrichment to all citizens of Milwaukee; and
 
Whereas, The Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation, Inc., a non-profit foundation which funds programs and projects not affordable through public funds to provide enhanced learning opportunities for students, encourage creative and innovative educational programs, and recognize and support teachers and support staff, desires to be added to the list of organizations participating in the UPAF/Visions campaign in 2002; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper city officials are authorized and directed to take the actions necessary to ensure that the Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation, Inc. is included as a participating Visions organization/donation recipient in the 2002 UPAF/Visions campaign; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee encourages all city employees to support the UPAF/Visions campaign in its goals of improving the quality of this city's cultural life and environment.
