Analysis
This resolution will permit the City of Milwaukee to accept title to land and to exchange property for the dedication of a public alley.
Body
Whereas, Properties on the east side of North 39th Street between West St. Paul Avenue and West Michigan Street lack a public alley and the property owners have been accessing the rear of their properties via the athletic field owned by Marquette University High School at 3800 West St. Paul Avenue; and

Whereas, Marquette University High School has offered to convey a portion of its athletic field to the City of Milwaukee ("City") for dedication of a public alley to improve access to and security for the adjoining properties in exchange for two City-owned vacant lots at 333 North 37th Street and 332 North 38th Street; and

Whereas, The vacant lots at 333 North 37th Street and 332 North 38th Street are not suitable for development due to the lack of public improvements and Marquette University High School has proposed to pave the lots to provide additional parking for its athletic facility; and

Whereas, A new public alley also would require access to North 39th Street and the Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation has acquired the property at 422 North 39th Street that it has offered to convey to the City, which would dedicate the majority of the lot for the alley; and

Whereas, The City Plan Commission has determined that the City-owned lots and the remnant that results from the alley dedication are surplus to municipal needs; now, therefor...
