Analysis
This ordinance, to take effect January 1, 2002, requires that any applicant for a private alarm business license not maintaining a place of business in the city of Milwaukee maintain in the city a registered office and a registered agent for service of process.  Currently, any applicant not maintaining a place of business in the state of Wisconsin is required to maintain in the state a registered office and agent.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1.  Section 105-75-3-b-5 of the code is amended to read:
105-75.  Private Alarm Systems and Regulations.
3.  LICENSING OF ALARM BUSINESS.  b-5.  All applicants not maintaining a place of business in the [[state of Wisconsin]] >>the city of Milwaukee<< shall continuously maintain in [[this state]]] >>the city<< a registered office and a registered agent for service of process, notice or demand required and permitted by law to be served on foreign corporations, the address of such office and the name and address of such registered agent to be filed with the city clerk.
 
Part 2.  This ordinance takes effect January 1, 2002.
