Resolution relative to application of a Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. (Fire Department)

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department to apply for an Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The purpose of the program is to enhance our fire fighting and rescue capabilities by allowing us to purchase personal protective equipment and fire equipment.

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for purchasing personal protective equipment and fire equipment; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant program is from October 1, 2001, to September 30, 2002; now therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency is authorized and the Milwaukee Fire Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843 (Grant Ordinance).
