Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Domestic Preparedness Grant Program. (Fire Department)
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department to apply for, accept and fund a Domestic Preparedness Equipment Grant Program from Wisconsin Emergency Management in the amount of $75,909.43 with a city share of $24,987.43, and a grantor share of $50,922. The purpose of the project is to supply weapons of mass destruction domestic preparedness equipment to the Milwaukee Fire Department regional Hazardous Materials Team.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from Wisconsin Emergency Management for domestic preparedness equipment; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant program from July 1, 2001 to January 1, 2002 would cost $75,909.43, of which $24,987.43 (32.9%) would be provided by the city, and of which, $50,922 (67.1%) would be provided by the grantor; now therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to Wisconsin Emergency Management is authorized and the Milwaukee Fire Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2001 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Projects, fund the following amounts for the program/project titled Domestic Preparedness Grant Program:

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;
3. Establish the necessary City Share Project values; and, be it
Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Fire Department which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
2. Expend from the 2001 grant budget funds for specific items of equipment;
