Analysis
This resolution reverses the November 20, 2000, decision of the Historic Preservation Commission denying a certificate of appropriateness for the awning with attendant signage proposed for a building at 2915 North Sherman Boulevard in the Sherman Boulevard Historic District. This resolution would, in effect, grant the certificate of appropriateness.

Body
Whereas, The property at 2915 North Sherman Boulevard is within the area designated as the Sherman Boulevard Historic District, and the owners of all buildings within historic districts are required to seek a certificate of appropriateness from the Historic Preservation Commission before in any way altering the exterior of their buildings; and

Whereas, The owners of this property have requested a certificate of appropriateness for the purpose of installing an awning with attendant signage; and

Whereas, The Historic Preservation Commission, on November 20, 2000, rejected this request after a public hearing, citing the awning and signage's inappropriate material, design and placement as well as the awning's internal illumination; and

Whereas, The owners of this property, pursuant to section 308-81-9-f of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances, are entitled to appeal the decision of the Historic Preservation Commission to the Common Council, and the owners have filed a request for a hearing of their appeal in a timely manner; now, therefore, be it
